Downloading and installing UTAU

This section shows you how to download and install UTAU. In addition, it also shows a few points of interest on the main website.

It is recommended to also check out the System Preparation page for system requirements.

To acquire the UTAU program, you must go to UTAU’s site.  Instructions are provided below for the Japanese illiterate.

First, click “ダウンロード” to reach the site for downloading. Or go directly to here to download the latest version.

Then click on “v#.#.## インストーラ” (replace ‘#’ with numbers of latest version) and save. This is the installer. (“v#.#.## zipアーカイブ” is a zip. As we’re doing a fresh install, we want the installer.)

Click on the setup file to execute, and change the installation path if needed. Note that the installer is in Japanese.

Basic Troubleshooting

Q1.) When I start try to start up UTAU, I keep getting the error “Component ‘COMDLG32.OCX’ or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid.”

A1.) Follow the instructions here. Try registering COMDLG32.OCX first if it’s already present before replacing it. If running a 64-bit OS, replace ‘System32’ with ‘SysWOW64’. (Successfully tested on Windows 7 Ultimate x64.)

 

 

Outdated or missing comdlg32.ocx runtime library is causing this error. Here is a copy of comdlg32.ocx (~60 Kb Zip). Download the file to the Desktop and extract the comdlg32.ocx to your the Windows\System32 folder.

Note: If you already have a copy of comdlg32.ocx, backup the existing file to a different folder and delete it from System32 folder.

1. Download comdlg32.zip and save to Desktop.

2. Unzip the file using WinZip or any other utility.

3. Extract comdlg32.ocx to Windows\System32 folder.

4. Type the following command from Start, Run dialog:

regsvr32  %Systemroot%\System32\comdlg32.ocx

Note: If you’re using Windows Vista, you’ll need to run the above command from an elevated Command Prompt. To open an elevated Command Prompt, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

You should see the following message:

DllRegisterServer in C:\WINDOWS\System32\comdlg32.ocx succeeded.

UTAUloids : Rules

REMINDERS

1. Characters to be added must be established, meaning it is not just a mere idea, and is OFFICIALLY RELEASED, no longer in alpha/beta phase. An established character has at least one of the following; a concept art, a website and sample work. It MUST also have a downloadable voice bank.
2. Sources must be provided to further prove the existence of the UTAUloid, like links to homepages, features, and such.
3. Do not add plagiarized characters, voice banks sourced from commercial artists and voice banks sourced without permission of the voice donor/source. UTAU usage policy also forbids voice banks taken from another brand of voice synthesis software without permission. (The only exceptions to this rule are Macne Families, FL-chan and Iku Acme; Voice sources/software/plugins deemed royalty-free are allowed.)
4. Do not recycle names (especially unique family names) which are not created by you. Conflicting names lead to misunderstandings. If you are eager to do, get the approval of the creator who came first beforehand. This rule will be relaxed when it comes to generic or common family names.
5. All entry removals must be explained, or they will be treated as vandalism.
6. For those who cannot edit wiki pages, but want to add their UTAUloids, please make a request in the discussion page.
7. All profile links found not to contain working methods to download the voicebanks will be moved toDelinquent UTAUloids until downloads are available again. Profiles whose voicebank links die will be moved as well.

If there are characters removed from entry, moved to Delinquent UTAUloids or “hidden” due to infractions from the reminders, do not restore the entries until their cause of removal has been resolved. For further help, see Rules and Regulations.

 

Download VOCALOID [Application]

Vocaloid (ボーカロイド?) adalah perangkat lunak produksi Yamaha          Corporation yang menghasilkan suara nyanyian manusia. Komposisi musik dan lirik dimasukkan di layar penyunting sesuai nyanyian dan iringan musik yang diingini. Suara nyanyian diambil dari “pustaka suara” yang berisi sampling rekaman suara dari penyanyi sebenarnya. Lirik lagu dinyanyikan dalam bahasa Inggris atau bahasa Jepang.

Anime News: Ghost Hunt, final!!!

Ghost Hunt Manga to End in Japan After 12 Volumes

Kodansha will publish the 12th and final volume from Shiho Inada’s shōjo supernatural mystery manga Ghost Hunt in Japan on September 30. The manga adapts Akuryō novel series by Fuyumi Ono (12 Kingdoms, Shiki).

In the story, high school girl Mai Taniyama encounters Shibuya Psychic Research, a paranormal investigation agency led by a tall, dark, handsome — and, naturally, aloof — teenager. Before long, Mai joins the ranks of the agency, whose associates include a Chinese occultist, a world-famous psychic, a self-proclaimed Shinto shrine maiden, a former Buddhist monk, and a Catholic exorcist. The agency’s adventures throughout modern Japan blend elements of Asian folklore and European mythology.

The manga launched in Kodansha’s monthly Amie magazine in 1998, and then it moved to Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine. It has since moved out of magazines entirely, and Kodansha has been publishing it exclusively in tankōbon (book volumes). The final three volumes have been bundling limited-edition drama CDs, and the final volume will feature an afterword by Ono.
